This story of a herring fishing boat in the grip of a violent storm comes to us
from a globe-trotting Belgian luthier, composer, traditional musician, Daniel Thonon
whom we met at festivals. The refrain is a good-bye to loved ones, encouraging their
prayers to see the boat safely back to port. Merci au talentueux monsieur Thonon,
ainsi qu'à Paul Marchand, qui a arrangé la guitare !

Un soir de tempête, de vague et de grand vent,

On me dit alors : Prends donc le commandement
De not’ vaisseau en proie aux éléments.
J’m’agrippe à la barre, jette un coup d’œil au sextant,
