Carol Reed

Carol Reed became fluent in French living in Lausanne, Switzerland for her sixth grade year. Her days at Middlebury College as a French major led to spending her early twenties playing street music, traveling around Europe and Morocco. Once she exhausted her nomadic tendencies, she returned to Middlebury. She settled in nearby Leicester, Vermont in 1984, where she and her husband Richard have raised their combined four children and a variety of critters. A multi-linguist, she became a French teacher by day, performing musically by night (rock 'n' roll, blues, and old jazz when she was younger), and traveling whenever possible. She has taught French in grades 1-8 at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School in Shelburne, Vermont since 1995. She performs frequently in musical theater with local community groups (come see her as the Queen in Middlebury Community Players' Cinderella this May!), and gets to exercise her bossy tendencies directing the occasional play. She plays guitar, piano, minor percussion, and has studied many forms of dance all her life, from ballet to contra-dancing to the Argentinean Tango. A card-carrying Sagittarian, her work with Va-et-vient over the years has afforded her the chance to weave together her love of music, dance, language, travel, and meeting new people.
